Tehran’s sole UNESCO site hosts photo exhibit dedicated to Iranian capital

TEHRAN—A collection of old and recent photos of the Iranian capital has been put on show at the UNESCO-designated Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran.

The three-day exhibition opened on Sunday at Shams-ol-Emareh (“Edifice of the Sun”), a 19th-century architectural masterpiece located within Tehran’s sole World Heritage site.

Organized to mark Tehran Week which, comes to an end on October 12, the event features a selection of 40 works taken by 20 photographers, CHTN reported.

Golestan Palace was once the official residence of the Qajar monarchs who ruled the country between 1789 and 1925. SD bridge near Pierpont to be dedicated in honor of U.S. Army Warrant Officer Roger S. Cameron

The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will be hosting a State Bridge Dedication Ceremony today (October 7, 2023) to honor U.S. Army Warrant Officer Roger S. Cameron.

The ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. (CT) at the Community Building in Pierpont (311 W. Main Street).

The Mud Creek Bridge on SD HWY 27, at Lake Pierpont, will be dedicated to WO1 Cameron.

Cameron distinguished himself while serving as a helicopter pilot gunner. His fire team was sent to My-Tho, Vietnam on January 31, 1968, and came under immediate attack by enemy .50 machineguns. Cameron was killed while engaging the enemy.
