McEntire recently sat down with ET’s Rachel Smith, where she dished on getting the chance to host the ACM Awards once more. Looking back to the very first time she hosted the show in 1985, the celebrated songstress shared, “In a way it seems like 100 years, in a way it seems like it just flew by like that.” “[I have] great memories — getting to work with Dick Clark, all the artists, the people that I co-hosted with,” shared McEntire, who will be serving as host for the 17th time at this year’s show. “I think my favorite memories are the clothes that I got to wear that I wouldn’t wear anyplace else other than the ACMs,” she added,… Source link

President Joe Biden Signs Law That Would Ban TikTok In The US If It’s Not Sold

The Biden administration has taken action against TikTok. On April 24, 2024, President Joe Biden signed a law to ban the China-based social media app under parent company ByteDance in the U.S. if it’s not sold within a year, NPR reports. The move comes after the House of Representatives introduced in March the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which aims to “protect the national security of the United States from the threat posed by foreign adversary controlled applications,” as previously shared by AFROTECH™. Under President Biden’s new law, if TikTok fails to be sold in 12 months, it would become illegal for web-hosting providers to host the platform. What’s more, Google and Apple would have to pull the popular app from its app… Source link

Footage of people taking cover at a petrol station in Israel is not from Iran’s attack

Footage of people taking cover at a petrol station in Israel is not from Iran’s attack

A clip showing people running for cover at a petrol station has been shared online with false claims it shows scenes from Israel during Iran’s recent attack on 13 April. But the footage in question predates these events. In the video, people at a petrol station can be seen running and ducking for cover as explosions are heard in the background and bright lights appear in the sky. The lights in the sky look very similar to other clips of missiles being intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome.    The video of people at the petrol station has recently been shared widely online with captions like: “Video circulating of the arrival of the first batch of Iranian drones to Israel”. One post shared on 14 April says: “LIVE from Israel: sirens are going off throughout the… Source link
