The 2026 Commonwealth Games could be pushed back a year as officials work to find a new state – or several cities – to host the event, an inquiry has heard.

Craig Phillips, the chief executive of Commonwealth Games Australia, on Friday said the organisation was working on plans for a “scaled-back” event that might be held in 2027.

“It may be a scaled back version of the games, given the time we have, but if you look around the capital cities around Australia … all have the capability of hosting games,” Phillips told a Senate inquiry that’s examining the Victorian government’s decision to withdraw from hosting the event.

Alamo City chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin will host New Orleans guest chef Mason Hereford for the second iteration of “Good Trouble in Little China,” a fundraising dinner benefitting reproductive-rights group Planned Parenthood South Texas.

Dobbertin, chef-owner of San Antonio’s Best Quality Daughter, and Hereford, owner of New Orleans’ award-winning eatery Turkey and the Wolf, will join forces with a collaborative light-bite menu on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Friday is Missing Persons Awareness Day, as proclaimed by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been reported missing across the U.S. in what’s been called a silent mass disaster. Now, for the first time in North Carolina, there will be a day dedicated to helping families with missing loved ones.

The State Bureau of Investigation and RTI International, a nonprofit research institute in Durham, are hosting “Missing in North Carolina Day” to connect families, law enforcement, the medical examiner’s office and various agencies working to find missing loved ones.
