AirBnB Launches ‘Rooms’ Category For More Affordable Travel

Airbnb has recently announced a number of updates to its platform, with one of the most interesting being its ‘Rooms’ feature.

Whilst renting individual rooms was possible on the platform, it was largely under-used and not very well publicised. As travel has become more expensive with rising inflation, providing consumers with a cheaper option for accommodation is a smart move.

What is the new ‘Rooms’ category?

In a blog posted on Wednesday, AirBnB announced that it is making a bigger push into the ‘Rooms category’, where travellers can rent a private room in someone’s home. As part of this, consumers will be able to read more about the host they are staying with on each individual listing.

Each listing will contain a ‘host passport’, which will contain information…

  • Airbnb really, really wants you to share a house with a stranger.
  • They’ve also announced a bunch of new features that make searching for rooms and private homes easier.
  • These are the ones we like the most.

It was in the small Azerbaijan village of Quba that I had my best Airbnb hosting experience. After a long day in a rickety minibus and an hour in a cab with no handles on the inside, I managed to find the nondescript door to Özgün’s home.

I’d picked the home on Airbnb not because I wanted to save cash or because I love sharing a bathroom with strangers, but because it was a spontaneous decision made the night…

Airbnb Guests Seek Revenge By Leaving Gas And Taps On For 25 Days

A South Korean Airbnb host was hit with a hefty bill when a couple sought revenge after their request for an early departure was denied. The guests on vacation from China booked the villa in Seoul for 25 days but complained that it was too far from the city center and demanded a refund.

The couple’s dissatisfaction with their Airbnb villa stemmed from its location in the suburbs of Seoul rather than the city center.

When their request was refused, they left the property after turning on all the taps, lights, and gas appliances, resulting in a massive utility bill for the owner.

The gas company even suspected a leak due to excessive gas consumption. Reports indicate that the couple returned every three days to check if everything was still running.

International Women’s Day 2023: Airbnb Celebrates Women Who Travel And Host

This International Women’s DayAirbnb celebrated the journey of Airbnb Hosts and guests through a panel event featuring actor and author Soha Ali Khan, singer and songwriter Lisa Mishra, entrepreneur Kirti Poonia and Airbnb Host Kakoli, and I had the chance to witness and hear these inspiring, beautiful women. While the ladies candidly shared stories about their personal and professional lives, what fascinated me was how they are leaving a mark in their respective fields and paving way for many more such women. The panelists also shared their thoughts on ‘Embrace Equity’, which is this year’s theme for International Women’s Day.

An amazing thing to note here is that women power – Airbnb’s Host community in India as well as globally. In fact, as per Airbnb’s…

Airbnb welcomes progress on EU short-term rental rules

Airbnb welcomes progress today on EU-wide short-term rental (STR) rules that mark a step towards more clear, consistent and harmonized rules for everyday Hosts across the bloc.

The European Commission launched its proposal for EU-wide STR rules in December last year which would give authorities better access to data via a harmonized data sharing framework, providing that local rules are clear and simple for everyday Hosts to follow.

The common position reached today by the Council of the EU paves the way for negotiations with the European Commission and Parliament to finalize the new rules later this year, which give hope to many everyday Europeans who are excluded from the benefits of hosting due to fragmented and disproportionate local rules, which were often designed with large…
