Amazon is removing “free speech” social network Parler from its web hosting service for violating rules.

If Parler fails to find a new web hosting service by Sunday evening, the entire network will go offline.

Parler styles itself as an “unbiased” social media and has proved popular with people banned from Twitter.

Amazon told Parler it had found 98 posts on the site that encouraged violence. Apple and Google have removed the app from their stores.

Launched in 2018, Parler has proved particularly popular among supporters of US President Donald Trump and right-wing conservatives. Such groups have frequently accused Twitter and Facebook of unfairly censoring their views.

Amazon to Suspend Hosting Services for Parler, Saying App ‘Poses a Very Real Risk to Public Safety’

Parler, an alt-right social network favored by some Trump supporters, is set to go dark Sunday after Amazon’s AWS division said it’s pulling the plug on the service’s hosting account.

Amazon informed Parler, which boasts of a hands-off policy to content moderation, of the imminent loss of its web hosting services on Saturday. That came after Apple and Google banned Parler from their respective app stores, also citing Parler’s inaction on policing violent and harmful content.

More from Variety

In explaining its decision, Amazon said it found nearly 100 examples of violent threats posted on the far-right social app. News of AWS’s move to drop Parler was first reported by BuzzFeed.

“AWS provides technology and services to customers across the political spectrum, and we continue to…

Apple, Amazon Suspend Parler Social Network from App Store, Web Hosting Service | Voice of America

Apple Inc and Amazon.com Inc have suspended Parler from their respective App Store and web hosting service, saying the social networking service popular with many right-leaning social media users has not taken adequate measures to prevent the spread of posts inciting violence.

The action by Apple and Amazon follows a similar move by Alphabet Inc’s Google on Friday. Parler is favored by many supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump, who was permanently suspended from Twitter on Friday, and it is seen as a haven for people expelled from Twitter.

“We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues,” Apple said in a statement Saturday.

Apple had earlier given Parler 24 hours to submit a detailed moderation plan, pointing to participants’ using the…
