Downtown Aurora BIA hosting March break scavenger hunt

Clues are on Instagram for the Pot O’Gold Challenge running to March 17, with prizes galore

The Downtown Aurora Business Improvement Association is hosting a free scavenger hunt during March break with prizes galore for families, kids and teens in Newmarket and Aurora.

Players will find the clues for the Pot O’Gold Challenge on the Downtown Aurora BIA’s Instagram account, @downtownaurorabia, until the contest closed March 17 at midnight on St. Patrick’s Day. 

“The Downtown Aurora Business Improvement Association has launched a new initiative to help drive traffic and interest to businesses in the downtown core, giving residents from Newmarket and Aurora even more incentive to support local,” organizers said.

Region hosting open house for proposed men’s shelter in Aurora

Residents have spoken out against the plan for the emergency and transitional shelter on Yonge Street, citing neighbourhood safety concerns and impact to property values

Proposals for a men’s emergency and transitional shelter for a site on Yonge Street, just south of the railway bridge in Aurora, have not been fully placed on the backburner.

The Regional Municipality of York is set to solicit public feedback at a special open house at the Aurora Public Library on Monday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.

If brought to fruition, the emergency and transitional shelter will share land with a York Region pumping station already operational on site.
