Country music’s biggest stars will honor top talent in the genre at the 58th annual Academy of Country Music Awards Thursday night.

The presenters, performers and more details on what to expect from one of country music’s biggest nights have been announced ahead of the 2023 ACM Awards, airing at 7 p.m. ET on Prime Video.

Who is hosting the ACM Awards?

Global country superstars Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks are co-hosting the awards show.

At the time the hosting gig was announced, Parton shared her excitement for helming the show with Brooks.

“While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with him throughout the years, I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together,” she said in a statement.

MTV Movie & TV Awards will be very different from what fans have been used to due to a strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Unlike before, when nominees and other artists graced the show with their presence, there won’t be any live audience this year. The award ceremony initiated in 1992 was simply MTV Movie Awards. But more than two decades later, it began to honor works on TV. Like a typical award ceremony, viewers often anticipated the annual show, including the live audience and the show’s host. However, this time, some slight changes have been influenced by the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.

Drew Barrymore stands in solidarity with the creative minds behind the movies and shows we love. At the moment a Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike is happening, the first since 2007. The guild currently consists of over 6,000 members who “write content for motion pictures, television, news, and online media.” The labor union “negotiates and administers contracts that protect the creative and economic rights of its members; conducts programs, seminars and events on issues of interest to writers; and presents writers’ views to various bodies of government.”

So why are writers of Hollywood protesting you ask?

Drew Barrymore has dropped out as host of the MTV Movie and TV Awards, saying she’s doing so in solidarity with striking writers.

The awards are still set to air Sunday, but they’ll now go without a host and without any Writers Guild of America scribes. MTV has also called off the red carpet for the event, which may see other talent pull out as well.

Barrymore has, however, agreed to host the 2024 awards.

“I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike. Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation,” Barrymore said in a statement. “And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but…
