The Dump Bar & Grill In Cambria Hosting Dump Run Saturday

(Cambria) The Dump Bar & Grill in Cambria is hosting the 20th annual Dump Run starting at 9am Saturday with proceeds going to various local organizations, the Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 

Sign-up opens for the ride starting at 9:00am and is $20 per participant. The ride is open to cars, motorcycles, and ATV/UTV’s.  

The Dump Bar and Grill owner Jack Jones recently shared the inspiration behind the charity event.  

“Well, it started; I acquired the bar in 2003. November of 2004, I lost a classmate to cancer and then in December [of 2004] I lost my mother to cancer. So, at that point I decided to do something in memory of those two. The following year I organized The Dump Run.”

Houston lesbian bar denied insurance for hosting drag shows

The only lesbian bar in Houston was denied insurance coverage because it hosts drag shows, according to a report.

Julie Mabry, the owner of Pearl Bar in Houston — one of the only two lesbian bars in all of Texas — told NPR that proposed state legislation targeting LGBTQ+ rights is to blame for the rejection, which would put her business in jeopardy.

“The first sentence in [the rejection email] said, ‘We will not write this risk due to drag,’” Mabry told the outlet.

The unnamed insurance company reportedly flagged drag shows — which have recently become increasingly controversial across the nation — as a “risk” too lofty to take on.
