Kyber V2, a project that will add private servers, observer mode, and automatic installation of modifications to Star Wars: Battlefront 2, among other things, is set to be released this month.

Studio DICE and Electronic Arts have long forgotten about Star Wars: Battlefront II, which is best demonstrated by the fact that the last update with new content was released in 2020. However, players have no intention of abandoning this title, and a certain group has been developing the Kyber mod for a long time, the aim of which is to ensure a solid future for this shooter. At present, the moderators are completing the long-awaited V2 version of this project. It looks impressive.

Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) receives new dedicated server browser, mod launcher, and other features from fans

Something to look forward to: Many gamers of a certain age probably miss the days before matchmaking replaced server browsers and custom servers, which let players moderate communities and stay online after developers ended official support. A dedicated group of modders is bringing significant upgrades to a project that aims to resurrect old-school functionality in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront sequel.

Those who own EA’s modern version of Star Wars Battlefront II (as opposed to the recently re-released 2005 version) on PC can now sign up for an upcoming playtest for a mod package that adds custom dedicated servers and other features. The trial begins later this month and the developers plan to release the full package soon after depending on the results.

Players can take advantage of the new proximity voice chat for some additional immersive chaos and track their stats – not just from community servers, but also from official ones.

Thanks to the integration of mod platform Nexus, players…

Battlefront Classic Collection players tear into Aspyr for bugs, crashes, and 3 64-player launch servers for nearly 10,000 users

Aspyr sure is running hot and cold at the moment. Right after last month’s well-regarded remasters of the first three Tomb Raider games, the company has put out the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, an uprezzed repackage of the original, beloved Battlefront games. It came out today and, well, oh dear.

With over a thousand Steam user reviews already in, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has spiralled down to a “Mostly Negative” overall rating, as fans complain of bugs, crashes, server issues, and a borderline-unplayable multiplayer mode.

“Probably one of the worst launches of all time,” writes Steam user Dinkleberg, “none of us can get in a game and there are only 3 servers.” Similar complaints appear endlessly up and down the game’s Steam review page, which is…
