Video does not show recent footage of Israeli tanks moving to the Israel-Lebanon border – Full Fact

A video being shared on social media with claims it shows recent footage of Israeli tanks being moved north from Gaza to the Lebanese border is almost a year old, and actually shows tanks moving to Re’im in southern Israel in the aftermath of the 7 October Hamas attack on Israel.

Posts being shared on X, formerly Twitter, and Facebook, say the video shows “new tanks that were recently in training in Gaza are now heading to the north as part of Division 98, the elite division of the IDF”. Other versions have the caption: “IDF’s 98th Ha’Esh Division completes arrival at Lebanese border from Gaza Strip”.

Israel has reportedly moved its 98th division to the country’s north, on the border with Lebanon, in recent days due to heightened tensions with the armed group

People crossing the UK border illegally do not automatically get jobs and benefits

A Facebook post that makes misleading claims about immigration has been shared more than 570,000 times. Originally posted on social media in 2012, it has been shared widely in recent weeks.

The post makes several claims about the outcome for someone crossing the border illegally into the UK, compared to other countries such as North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran. 

It says: “SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT… If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years. hard labour. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. Two Americans just got eight years for crossing the Iranian border. [sic]

Two VPS head to Poland: Mike Pence meets refugees on the Ukrainian border during Kamala trip

Thursday featured the odd occurrence of two vice presidents, one past and one present, in Poland amid Russia’s devastating invasion of Ukraine.

Former Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Poland along with former first lady Karen Pence to meet with refugees, just as Vice President Kamala Harris was announcing the latest details of U.S. security aide. 

The dueling events put Pence closest to the border, encountering refugees bundled up against the cold outside after leaving their country behind amid Russia’s brutal invasion.

Harris met with world leaders and answered questions from the press, while hosting a select group of refugees at a roundtable. 

Pence came with minister Edward Graham of Samaritan’s Purse, an evangelical relief group.
