Haddonfield boys lacrosse team hosts run dedicated to late coach

The Haddonfield Memorial High School boys lacrosse program will host its third annual 5K Legacy Run for Brian McDonnell Sunday, June 11, a tribute to a team coach who died in 2021. 

“This whole thing started a couple years back – a community member, father, friend to everybody, Brian McDonnell passed away, and his son’s senior class started this legacy run as a great way to get the community together,” explained Nolan Tully, a senior lacrosse player.

‘Anonymous’ hackers claim to hit website hosting firm popular with Proud Boys

The more than 150 gigabytes of data swept up in the breach shine a light on years of online activities from far-right groups, including those who tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election. While researchers are still sifting through the data, Epik has historically provided web hosting services to an array of conspiracy theorists, and for conservative media networks like Parler and Gab.

The breach also undercuts Epik’s pledge to customers that it can safeguard their anonymity, no matter what dangerous conspiracy theories they spread online. For that reason, experts told CNN the hack could have repercussions for how far-right groups organize and try to protect themselves online.

Anonymous hack of Epik web services reveals who’s behind Proud Boys websites

Emma Best, co-founder of Distributed Denial of Secrets, a nonprofit whistleblower group, said some researchers call the Epik hack “the Panama Papers of hate groups,” a comparison to the leak of more than 11 million documents that exposed a rogue offshore finance industry. And, like the Panama Papers, scouring the files is labor intensive, with payoffs that could be months away.

Proud Boys websites kicked off web host, Google Cloud

Following what was described years of lobbying, Google has intervened this week with one of its customers to have websites for the Proud Boys far-right extremist group moved off its cloud platform.

Google’s decision came after intense lobbying from Color Of Change, one of the largest racial justice organizations in the US.

“Google’s recent actions to block the Proud Boys website and online store is a welcome response to persistent demands from Color Of Change and our allies,” said Color of Change President Rashad Robinson.
