House Passes Bill Banning TikTok Unless China’s ByteDance Divests App

The House of Representatives by a wide margin passed a bill that would make it illegal to distribute or host TikTok in the U.S. — effectively blocking it from some 170 million American users — unless Chinese owner ByteDance divests its interest in the popular app.

It’s the first time a congressional bill has passed that would outlaw an internet app. The fears among many American lawmakers, who see TikTok as a national security threat: that the Chinese regime could demand access to data on TikTok’s U.S. users or somehow compel it to promote China’s agenda. TikTok has repeatedly claimed the Chinese government has never made such demands (and that TikTok would not comply with them if they were made).

On China’s new space station, a robotic arm test paves way for future construction

A large robotic arm on China’s space station has successfully grasped and maneuvered a cargo spacecraft in a crucial test ahead of upcoming module launches.

The 33-foot-long (10 meters) robotic arm on the Tianhe module of China’s new Tiangong space station took hold of the Tianzhou 2 supply ship and moved it around 20 degrees, before returning it to the forward port on Tianhe’s docking hub.

In October 2021, Alibaba unveiled a new all-in-one (AIO) PC as part of its family of cloud-based computer products. The Wuying AIO PC follows the original Wuying, a tiny thin client that could sit comfortably in the palm of your hand and act as a gateway to Alibaba’s formidable cloud computing infrastructure.

A spokesperson for Alibaba has now provided us with more details on the newly-launched AIO, which doubles as a business PC. Two versions will be offered; one with a 23.8-inch full HD display and a Pro version with a larger 27-inch touchscreen display that offers a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.
