Clip of Israelis ‘panicking’ during Iran’s airstrike is actually Louis Tomlinson fans in Argentina

A viral video is being shared with the claim it shows panic in Israel during Iran’s recent drone and missile attack. But, the footage actually shows scenes in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires.

The footage shows people running and screaming at night and has been shared widely on social media with the caption: “ISRAELIS in FULL PANIC as IRANIAN missiles land in ISRAEL.”

Iran reportedly launched more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel on the night of 13 April 2024, which were mostly intercepted by the Israeli military and Jordan, US and the UK. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—a branch of its armed forces—reportedly said the attack was “in retaliation” against Israel’s “repeated crimes”, including the attack on the…

BRIT Awards 2024 host Maya Jama took to her Instagram Stories to share a glimpse of her routine ahead of the ceremony.

The Love Island presenter, along with Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp, is hosting tonight’s awards show at London’s O2 Arena. In a short clip on her Stories, Maya filmed herself getting pampered with rollers in her hair and an eye mask to look as fresh-faced as possible.

Clip claiming to show new ‘iron beam’ system in Israel is taken from a video game

A video which has been viewed 5.8 million times on X (formerly Twitter) claiming to show a “New Iron Beam” defence system in Israel is actually taken from a video game.

The clip, which has also circulated on Facebook, shows explosions taking place in the air at night, which some on social media have claimed shows a new defence system, called the “iron beam”, in operation in Israel.

The “iron beam” is a laser weapon developed in Israel. It has not yet been used in the country.

However, the video in question is actually footage from the Arma 3 military simulation video game.

The clip is part of a longer video with footage from the game shared on YouTube on 11 October, intended to replicate Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system. The video description states…

Video game footage used to falsely claim clip of missile hitting helicopter is in Gaza

Multiple social media posts feature a video claiming to show a man using a shoulder-launched ground-to-air missile to shoot down an Israeli helicopter during the recent conflict in Israel and the Gaza Strip

The clip, which has been shared hundreds of times across Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) is not of a real event. It has been taken from a military simulation game called Arma 3

A higher-quality version of the sequence showing the helicopter being downed was uploaded to YouTube in February 2023, months before the recent hostilities began.

The description attached to the YouTube video states: “It’s Just a Military Simulation. Not Real life.”

Scenes from Arma 3 have previously been used in misleading claims linked to global conflicts. We’ve written

No evidence audio clip is ‘banging’ noises from Titan sub

A video shared hundreds of times on Facebook falsely claims to feature “audio of the noises from the missing Titanic submarine”.

The sounds of water, beeps and sporadic banging can be heard in the clip, which appears to have been originally posted to TikTok on 21 June where it has been viewed more than 12 million times.

The video also features a picture of the OceanGate Titan submersible, which went missing on 18 June while on a tourist expedition to the Titanic shipwreck—almost 4,000 metres below sea level

A huge search was launched in order to locate the submersible after it lost contact with the launch vessel.

However, on 22 June it was confirmed that the submersible had in fact suffered a “catastrophic implosion”, killing everyone on board.

The day…
