Grant Student Council Dedicated to Helping Community, Keeping Peers Engaged

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Grant Student Council, which is comprised of 30 student representatives from fifth and sixth grade, has been busy since the start of the 2020-2021 school year planning and running virtual events and organizing community initiatives to keep students involved and engaged. 

Student council reps are selected by class vote in the fall with one from each homeroom charged with relaying important information on events and activities back to classmates. Members meet with advisors Megan Basile (sixth grade math) and Alyson Oller (fifth grade ELA/social studies) twice a month and, since the start of the year, have been working together to brainstorm ideas for school wide activities, themed spirit days, and more.
