Senior members of Traveller community called on to mediate after ‘shocking’ rampaging incident

SENIOR members of the Traveller community have been called on to mediate following a rampaging incident in which a man was shot and a number of vehicles and mobile homes were damaged.

Footage of the incidents, which appear to have been recorded by the perpetrators, has been widely shared on social media and WhatsApp. It shows upwards of a dozen men armed with weapons including a gun, sledgehammers and slash hooks in Ennistymon, County Clare, on Sunday.

The masked and hooded men are seen smashing the windows of cars and mobile homes, and firing shots from a gun. Shouts of “that car there” and breaking glass can be heard.

Seattle Public Schools To Host Community Meetings

Over the next few weeks, Seattle Public Schools will be hosting a series of community meetings to develop a shared understanding of what programs, services resources, and learning experiences make up well-resourced schools.

Students, families, staff, and community partners are more than welcome to come join and participate in the discussions.

Islamic community prayed for Sinead O’Connor at ‘moving and spiritual’ funeral

Sinead O’Connor had a “moving and private” funeral featuring Islamic prayers ahead of a funeral procession along a waterfront in Ireland.

The Chief Imam at the Islamic Centre of Ireland, who delivered Sinead O’Connor’s funeral prayer, said O’Connor “never moved away from God” unlike others who have “difficulties and trials” in their lives.

Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri told the PA news agency: “The funeral was obviously private (for) the family and it was a very moving ceremony and I think it really reflected the beautiful personality of Sinead.

“It was very spiritual and it reflected her Irish identity as well as her Muslim identity.
