Video of ‘corpse running away’ is not related to Israel conflict – Full Fact

A video of an apparent funeral procession where what appears to be a corpse suddenly runs away when an alarm rings out is being shared with a misleading claim that it shows people “scared of Israel’s drones”.

During the video, a group appear to be carrying a shrouded body, which they put down and run away from when a siren sounds. The ‘dead body’ then also gets up and runs off, to laughter from the person filming.

The footage has been shared with the caption: “Even dead are scared of Israel’s Drones [sic].” That suggests the video shows people being targeted by Israeli drones, possibly in Gaza or Lebanon given current events in the Middle East. But this is not the case.

The video was actually filmed in Jordan in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. It…

World Refugee Day: Europe’s experience with ‘private hosting’ of Ukrainian Refugees offers a new model for supporting people fleeing conflict and violence – Poland

As World Refugee Day (June 20) focuses our attention on helping asylum seekers and refugees, the Safe Home Programme offers some new and innovative solutions to the complex challenge of hosting large numbers of displaced people.

After the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, countless people fled the country. Most went to other countries in Europe and now some 7 million people still live abroad.

A significant percentage of these refugees were supported by host communities including individuals and families who welcomed them into their homes. This widespread show of solidarity provided an essential lifeline to numerous people from Ukraine.

She [the host] has done a lot for me,” said one of the Ukrainian guests, speaking about the people she…

Video of fireworks accident is not linked to the Israel-Gaza conflict

A video on social media is being falsely shared with the claim it shows a firework exploding in the hands of a pro-Hamas protestor at a rally in Turkey .

Blue and white McDonald’s food wrappers not connected to current Israel-Gaza conflict

A viral video claims McDonald’s has changed its packaging to show support for Israel during its current conflict with Gaza. But the fast food chain has said this is not true and the wrappers have been used for several years.

The video is filmed by a customer reportedly in Chicago who receives her order in a white wrapper that has blue stripes and an ‘M’ outlined in blue. She asks two staff members why the packaging resembles the Israeli flag and one responds that the wrapping is not new while another says it has been introduced recently.

The woman says: “This is the colour of their [Israel] flag […] This is a big company, it should not be changing the wrapping […] I’m just really upset that I got my order and I got this flag.”

More than 9,000 people…

Kim Jong Un video doesn’t show him talking about Israel-Gaza conflict

A video of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un making a speech has been claimed to show him commenting on the Israel-Gaza conflict. The video has been shared on X (formerly Twitter) as well as on Facebook and TikTok.

A caption on the video states: “Kim Jong-un speech about Israel Palestine war [sic].” The fake subtitles say: “Under the Biden administration conflicts erupt yearly. This year a war begins between Israel and Palestine. Last year a war begins [sic] between Russia and Ukraine and two years ago billions worth of military equipment was left to the Taliban.

“I’m afraid that if the Biden admin. does not cease to exist in the next election World War 3 may begin. Who knows what next year’s war will be. I support Donald Trump for president in 2024. Good…
