Chicago-based nonprofit Latinos Progresando hosting 12th annual MEX talks at Harris Theater, a celebration of Mexican culture

CHICAGO (WLS) — Latinos Progresando, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization, will host its 12th annual MEX talks, a one-night showcase celebrating the culture and contributions of Mexicans in the US. The event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Harris Theater.

MEX talks was created by Latinos Progresando to give Mexican and Mexican American leaders with diverse experiences the platform to reflect on a shared identity and tell stories to inspire positive change.

Mayim Bialik Wants to Host Pop Culture Version of Jeopardy

Mayim Bialik hasn’t given up on hosting Jeopardy yet — even though she was beaten out for the prized gig by former champ Ken Jennings

The Big Bang Theory alum is said to be shooting for the role on a new Amazon Prime version of the game show that focuses only on pop culture. 

“Producers are still searching for a host for Pop Culture Jeopardy, and Mayim has let it be known she’s interested in the job,” a TV industry insider exclusively reveals to Closer

Mayim, 48, shared Jeopardy hosting duties with Jennings until she was dropped in February, with producer Michael Davies declaring, “Ken has won the job.” 

But Davies added, “We hope to continue working with [Mayim],” which cracked open the door for her to host the new show.

Krakow Museum hosting exhibition dedicated to Georgia’s culture, history

The National Museum in Krakow is hosting a “large-scale” exhibition dedicated to Georgian culture and history titled Golden Fleece – Art of Georgia, the country’s Ministry of Culture said on Friday.

On display until September 15, the exhibition will allow European audiences to get acquainted with the “rich culture of Georgia, masterpieces of Georgian art, outstanding examples of martial arts, and works of the best representatives of Georgian modernism”, the Ministry said.

The body added many Georgian artefacts were preserved in various Polish museums that were exhibited for the first time at this exposition, organised with the support of the Georgian Ministry and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Puna group dedicated to ‘āina stewardship to host festival celebrating Hawaiian culture, community and wellness : Big Island Now

A Puna nonprofit dedicated to helping men stay clean and sober through community service and mālama ‘āina (caring for the land) will hold its first Makahiki Cultural Festival in January, an event celebrating Hawaiian culture, community resilience and holistic wellness.

The event, hosted by the Men of Pa‘a (firm, solid, immovable), will take place during the Makahiki season, an ancient Hawaiian New Year festival that honors Lono, the Hawaiian god of fertility.
