LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The month of October is just around the corner, and TAMIU is registering participants for its highly anticipated Zombie Run.
Clarissa Guerrero from TAMIU shared that extensive planning has been in the works since the summer to bring the event to life. The run will feature a special twist — a mile-and-a-half game of tag where participants wear flag-football-style belts with two flags while evading zombies stationed around campus. Survivors who make it with at least one flag will be declared safe from the apocalypse! Proceeds will benefit the TAMIU community and student engagement efforts.

Executive Director Bruce Slough joined us in studio to share more about the assisted living facility and the online giving day.
For 52 years, their mission has been to serve the elderly of central Virginia who have limited financial means, and to make sure they provide dignity, loving care and safety. There are more than 100 residents and over 50 dedicated staff.

When most people take on a new job, they don’t need to worry about millions of people’s eyeballs watching from the first day onward, but such is life for new Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest, who is taking over for the retired icon Pat Sajak when the new season hits the upcoming Fall TV schedule. It’s been a long time coming, but his debut is fast approaching, and he’s opened up about his excitement and the slice of wisdom he immediately received from Sajak and Vanna White.
Seacrest appeared on Good Morning America opposite White, who’d previously talked about being nervous to have a new co-host after 40+ years, and addressed that even though he’s got the moves down and has started filming, the sense of glee has yet to fade. In his words:
Euclid Senior Center announced that it will be hosting its annual Membership Appreciation Day on Sept. 10.
Program Coordinator Monica Fetheroff said that because it was so popular, the Membership Appreciation Day is capped at around 100 attendees.
She said that starting between 8:30 and 9 a.m., a continental breakfast will be served, with a DJ playing music, a photobooth, music bingo, followed by a catered lunch by LaVera catering company.
“We are giving back, and we are spoiling them for one day as best as we can,” Fetheroff said on the reason for the appreciation day. “We are going to make a breakfast bag and put a sandwich in there and have a juice bar with coffee and tea.”
