Sian Welby has shared an insight into her recent This Morning debut, branding it the ‘best week of her life’.

The Capital Breakfast presenter, 37, joined Dermot O’Leary to co-host the ITV show amid claims smitten bosses had declared her the ‘next Holly Willoughby’.

Sian was quizzed about the four-day stint by colleague Roman Kemp, 31, on Wednesday as she returned to her regular job on the radio.

Telling listeners: ‘Honestly, probably the best week of my life! I was on This Morning, I can’t believe they sort of gave me the reins to co-host with Dermot O’Leary who I’ve been watching for most of my life, X Factor, Big Brother, he’s a legend,’

‘So for me it was quite nerve wracking because you’re stepping into a show that everyone knows and loves and has their favourites’.

Limerick man wins award for his debut short film

WRITER, director and actor Mark P O’Connor has been honoured for his short film debut.

He won the Best Narrative Short Award at the Red Cedar Film Festival in the United States.

The Limerick city man was inspired by the people he has shared pints with over the years. His debut, Pints, was filmed in JJ Bowles and Souths public houses.

Speaking of his debut short film, Pints, he said: “It’s supposed to represent three characters coming from different parts of Ireland and they’re going for a pint and we don’t know who they are. Are they goodies or baddies? And it’s up to the audience to decide who they relate to the most.”

According to Mark, there are a lot of conversations happening in pubs that never make it to the screen.

Jake Eastwood saves penalty on Grimsby debut to earn point against AFC Wimbledon

Grimsby and AFC Wimbledon shared the points in their Sky Bet League Two curtain-raiser at Blundell Park.

Mariners goalkeeper Jake Eastwood was the hero as he saved a second-half penalty from Ali Al-Hamadi on debut to earn his side a point.

The Dons’ best chances aside from the penalty came in quick succession around the 34th minute as Ryan Johnson won two headers from back-to-back corners.

Despite Grimsby’s bright start to the second half, the visitors were gifted a golden opportunity to go ahead in the 59th minute as Harry Clifton brought down Al-Hamadi in the box.

He stepped up to take the penalty, which was saved well by Eastwood down to his left, with a double save made in the end by the Grimsby stopper to deny Al-Hamadi on the follow-up.
