Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond are officially the new Friday hosts on This Morning

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have been announced as regular hosts on This Morning. The pair are set to share hosting duties with Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes OBE and Ruth Langsford from January 2021.

Rumours were circling but it’s now been confirmed by ITV; from 8 January Alison and Dermot will host This Morning shows on Fridays, which are currently hosted by Eamonn and Ruth. Holly and Phillip will stay in their current slots, and Eamonn and Ruth will continue to host the show during key holidays.

Managing Director, ITV Daytime, Emma Gormley said: “We are delighted that Alison and Dermot will be joining the main presenting family on This Morning.

Dermot O’Leary replaced by Paddy McGuinness

This Morning saw Paddy McGuinness host today as he replaced Dermot O’Leary – and some viewers weren’t happy!

It’s Friday which means usually Dermot hosts the show alongside Alison Hammond. However, this Friday, things were different and Dermot was nowhere to be seen!

Opening the show, Alison said: “Hello and a very warm welcome to your Friday’s This Morning.”

Dermot O’Leary reflects on co-hosting This Morning amid Schofield drama

Phillip Schofield bared all in interviews with The Sun and BBC amid the fallout of confessing to an affair with a This Morning runner. Here is what he said:

‘I did not groom him’

Schofield insists he is not a groomer, saying that while he met the former colleague while he was a teenager, their interactions were innocent and only became sexual when the runner was around 20/21 years old.

He said it never felt like an ‘abuse of power’ because they were ‘mates’.

He has said that the affair began after a ‘consensual moment’ in his dressing room.

‘It was not a love affair, it was not a relationship, we were not boyfriends; we were mates,’ he insisted. ‘It wasn’t feelings (I was getting), it was more like mates: excitement.’

Dermot O’Leary shares tribute after a week of co-hosting This Morning amid Philip Schofield scandal

Dermot O’Leary has shared a gushing tribute and said co-hosting an entire week of This Morning was a ‘privilege’  amid the ongoing Phillip Schofield scandal. 

The host, 50, who has been fronting the show alongside Alison Hammond, 48, took to Instagram with a slew of snaps from his busy stint in front of the camera.

Phillip, 61, quit ITV with immediate effect after admitted to cheating on wife Stephanie with the man, while he admitted deceiving his ITV employees and colleagues about his affair.

Dermot playfully posed alongside Alison in the snaps as well as with a number of the show’s celebrity guests. 

The duo beamed, shaking off any signs of drama, with actors Ian McKellan, Roger Allam and the Spitting Image puppets.

This Morning viewers have shared a new verdict on Craig Doyle as he was drafted in to host the programme alongside Alison Hammond in light of Phillip Schofield’s exit.

The Irish presenter, who is best known as a presenter for BT Sport where he covers the Rugby Union and MotoGP, is no stranger to hosting the ITV daytime show having joined the growing list of presenters on the show last year. But on Wednesday (May 23), Craig was fronting the show alongside Alison Hammond in place of Dermot O’Leary.
