Detroit Lions to host second “Women in Football” game dedicated to celebrating women in the sport

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions announced today their Week 2 regular season game at Ford Field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Kickoff 1 PM) will be themed Women In Football presented by GEICO. This game marks the second installment of the initiative originally created by the Lions, following its NFL debut during the 2023 season to celebrate the countless ways in which women impact the game of football.

GEICO is partnering with teams and women creators throughout the NFL season who are making content that delivers a fresh perspective on the sport. Deadline Detroit | Michigan Sheriff Resigns from Nonprofit Dedicated to Victims of Sexual Violence After Hosting Donald Trump at Office

Livingston County Sheriff Michael Murphy served on the Board of Directors for the LOCASA Center, which provides services for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual violence.


But Steve Neavling  of Metro Times, citing unnamed sources,  reports that many board members were furious and called on Murphy to resign after he decided two weeks ago to host Donald Trump at his office for a campaign speech and press conference. Murphy ended up resigning.


The Michigan Bureau of Elections is investigating Murphy after Metro Times reported that he may have violated state law by using taxpayer resources to support a political candidate.
