Photo shared on social media doesn’t show King Charles with Dunblane gunman

Claims that a photo shows King Charles, serial abuser Jimmy Savile and the Dunblane massacre shooter are going viral online. A video featuring the image has over 50,000 views on TikTok and has also been shared on Twitter and Facebook.

The picture is a genuine photo taken by a PA photographer in July 1999 of the now-King and Jimmy Savile during a visit to a mountain rescue centre in Glencoe, Scotland. But the third man pictured is Iain Thornber, one of the deputy Lord lieutenants for Inverness, not the Dunblane shooter.

Lord lieutenants arrange visits by members of the royal family amongst other roles, and are supported by their vice and deputies, of which Mr Thornber was one. Footage and images of the same visit from other sources also show the three men at Glencoe…

Image of plane underwater doesn’t show missing MH370

A tweet with a picture of a plane’s cockpit underwater claims: “Malaysia Airplane MH370 that disappeared 9 years ago has been found under ocean with no human skeleton [sic]. The plane had 239 passengers on board.”

The tweet has over 15,000 shares. It’s also been shared on Facebook.

But the image is not of the Malaysia Airlines plane that went missing in 2014. Instead, it shows a Lockheed Martin L1011 Tristar aircraft that was purposely sunk off the coast of Jordan in 2019 to create an artificial reef and diving site.

The photo appears to be a screenshot of a video of that plane published on Instagram by a diving centre in Aqaba, Jordan, near the site of the wreck.

Other videos of the aircraft taken from different angles show that it is the sunken Lockheed…

Basketmouth doesn’t like hosting my guests on his show — AY

Comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY Makun, has shed more light on his feud with his colleague, Basketmouth.

It be recalled AY had in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, a media personality, claimed that Basketmouth, in 2006 usually had multiple wedding gigs on Saturdays.

“So what he used to do then was to attend one, and at a point, leave the venue to catch up in the other venue,” he said.

AY narrated that one of the gigs that he got Basketmouth’s endorsement to stand in at that time was N30,000 and that 30k was worth everything to him at that time.

He explained that 2 weeks later he did not receive his 30k and he was starving.

He decided to ask for his 30k, but he was told that the person has not said — a claim Basketmouth has since denied.

But, in latest…

The government doesn’t spend £17 million a year subsidising food in Parliament

A post shared by thousands of people on Twitter wrongly claims that the government spends “£17m a year subsidising food in Parliament”.

The post, which has also been shared a number of times on Facebook, goes on to say that the £17 million total is “ £30,000 per MP and that’s BEFORE expenses”.

This is completely inaccurate. As we have written before, catering services on the parliamentary estate are effectively subsidised by the taxpayers at a cost of millions of pounds each year. However, the yearly total is significantly lower than £17 million and catering services are offered to thousands of people working there—not just MPs.

False or misleading claims about politicians have the potential to affect people’s opinions of individuals, parties or…

Video doesn’t show Joe Biden falling down stairs of Air Force One in Poland

Claims that a video shows US President Joe Biden falling down the stairs of Air Force One have been shared online.

The video appears to show someone falling down steps as they exit a plane. A tweet questioning whether Mr Biden is the person falling in the picture has been shared almost 10,000 times on Twitter, with very similar posts appearing on Facebook

But the video on social media doesn’t show the US President falling down the stairs. As has been widely reported, the incident, which took place in Poland on Tuesday, actually involved a female member of staff.

A White House spokesperson told Newsweek that the person falling in the video was not Mr Biden. A different video, published on YouTube by ABC, shows Mr Biden walking down the stairs without…
