Elks hosting blood drive – Times-Standard

Eureka Elks Lodge No. 652 will hold its fifth annual blood drive Wednesday, Sept. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 445 Herrick Ave., Eureka, or from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Northern California Community Blood Bank, 2524 Harrison Ave., Eureka.

Call Lynn McKenna to make an appointment for either blood drive at 707-443-9106. Expect to stay for one hour when donating. All blood donors will need to bring their photo ID. For more information, call 707-443-8004 or visit nccbb.org.

Local News: Humane Society receives $1500 in donation following donation drive hosted by two dedicated volunteers (8/5/24)

Two avid supporters of the Dyersburg – Dyer County Humane Society collected an overwhelming volume of donations for the Shelter totaling $1500.
Shea Childress and Ben Cross started the Shelter Drive as a way for friends, family, and fellow animal enthusiasts to lend a hand. The event was hosted in honor of Shea’s 25th birthday.
Shea and Ben have been instrumental volunteers in the growth of the Shelter, hosting numerous annual events, including Volunteer Day. Items collected included 265 heavy-duty trash bags, 550 13-gallon trash bags, 486 lbs. of dogfood, 20 lbs. of dog treats, 48 rolls of paper towels, 5,700 nitrile exam gloves, roughly 8 gallons of laundry detergent, 770 disinfectant wipes, and over 5 gallons of bleach. Los Angeles Mission hosting virtual back-to-school supplies drive

LOS ANGELESA local nonprofit is hosting an online back-to-school drive for kids facing homelessness.

Los Angeles Mission, the nonprofit working to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, shared a link for families looking to help the unhoused students ahead of the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
