Sotheby’s Is Hosting Its First Auction and Exhibition Dedicated to Artist-Designed Jewelry

This weekend, Sotheby’s is set to open Art as Jewelry as Art, a first-of-its-kind online auction and exhibition in New York (September 24–October 4, 2022) featuring jewelry designed by 65 major artists of the 20th century and today. From gilded, birdlike Georges Braque brooches inspired by Greek mythology to Louise Nevelson’s sculptural pendants to a pair of 18-karat gold Salvador Dalí earrings in the form of melting telephones—and dripping with diamonds, emeralds, and rubies—the pieces are at once adornment and art.

Portugal hosts its first exhibition dedicated to Tintin’s creator

For the first time, Portugal is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Tintin’s creator, the multi-talented Belgian artist Georges Remi, better known as “Hergé” (the sound of his initials, reversed).

The exhibition at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon has been co-produced with the Hergé Museum of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.

The exhibition reveals the many other facets of the artist by bringing together an important selection of documents, original storyboards, paintings, and photographs by Tintin’s creator, through which visitors can decipher the art behind his creative genius.

German city hosts photographic exhibition dedicated to Cuba – Prensa Latina

Arranged by the Cuba-Hilfe Dortmund solidarity group, the exhibition brings together works by German photographer Dietmar Sebastian Fischer and Cuban Antonio Hernandez, who coincided in Havana in 2019.

From the encounter between the two artists was born the idea of the exhibition, whose title refers to the kilometers that separate the two cities.

The head of Cuba’s diplomatic office in Bonn, Yamari Perez, thanked the organization of the exhibition, and acknowledged the support of the friendship group to the Cuban Revolution.

Likewise, the diplomat assured that the solidarity of that organization is of great importance in the current circumstances, marked by the tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade and the US aggressions against Cuba.
