Chester Zoo is not offering a giveaway through ‘Chester Wildlife Park’ Facebook profile

A Facebook post written as if it was shared by Chester Zoo is offering a fake giveaway. The official Chester Zoo page has warned that this is not a genuine offer.

The post appeared on a Facebook profile called “The Chester Wildlife Park” on 3 June. The profile has the same display picture as the official Chester Zoo Facebook page, which has a blue tick and over one million followers.

The post says: “We’re thrilled to announce an exciting giveaway exclusively for our incredible Facebook community! In celebration of our beloved Chester Zoo and the unwavering support from our loyal visitors, we’re offering a chance to win an unforgettable day at our sanctuary for you and your lucky friends!”

It goes on to list the prizes supposedly on offer, which include four…

Caravan shared hundreds of times on Facebook isn’t part of any giveaway

A post on Facebook falsely claims that a caravan, which was not previously claimed after a different giveaway, will be given away for free to someone who comments on and shares the post.

The post says: “Unfortunately, our previous winner Naomi Raynott V. doesn’t follow our page and thus we have been unable to contact her for 14 days, we have been left with no choice but to give out the beautiful cabin once again to someone who Shares+Comments by Sunday 28 at 7p.m. Delivery is free within 6 weeks. But the caravan pictured in the post is not part of any giveaway, and is currently listed for sale by Cumbria-based caravan dealership Adventure Leisure Vehicles.

Poster shared on Facebook misrepresents Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030

A post on Facebook claims that the United Nations (UN) plans to introduce a worldwide social credit system, a global military and mandatory vaccines, among other “goals”.

The post shows a photo of a man with a poster that lists 22 alleged “goals” under the title “UN Agenda 21-2030”. The poster also implies that the World Economic Forum (WEF) is involved in these goals, with the organisation’s logo shown at the bottom of the poster.

Other items on the poster include “government raised children”, the “end [to] private transportation” and the “end of private farms, livestock and irrigation”.

While Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030 do exist, there is no evidence that either include plans to implement any of the things on the list.

Misleading caravan giveaway shared thousands of times on Facebook

A post on Facebook, shared over 5,000 times in under 24 hours, claims that social media users who share and comment on it could be in with a chance of winning a free caravan.

Alongside a number of pictures of the caravan, the post says: “Due to having a few small dents and scratches we have been unable to sell this in our showroom, rather than flog it as second hand we have decided to bring some joy by giving it to someone who has Sharred then commented by May 31st at 5pm. Delivery should be within 2 weeks [sic].”

But this is not a real giveaway. Full Fact found that the pictures were taken from a website run by a caravan dealership in Cumbria called Adventure Leisure Rentals, and a spokesperson for the company told us they had no association with the giveaway…

Fake Amazon deal offering ‘£3’ Tefal set circulating on Facebook

Posts falsely claiming that Amazon are offering large sets of Tefal cookware for £3 due to the company closing three warehouses in the UK have been shared widely on social media.

The posts, which all use identical wording, say: “There are 3 amazon warehouses closing in the UK!

“Due to this, the management has decided to sell off a set of tefal cookware for £3!”

The post then encourages social media users to follow a link in the comments in order to purchase the set of cookware.

A spokesperson for Amazon UK told Full Fact that the offer advertised in these posts is not genuine. They added that while the retailer did announce in January that three existing UK warehouses would be closing, two new ones were also planned.

There are other indications that this…
