Fascist Fashion: How Mainstream Businesses Enable the Sale of Far-Right Merchandise

Fascist fashion items can help promote and provide funds for extremist groups. In some instances, it appears, their sale relies upon key services provided by prominent businesses that have policies against promoting racist organisations and hateful content.

An investigation by Bellingcat has found that a number of far-right and neo-Nazi online stores are openly utilising the infrastructure provided by major payment processors, commercial content management systems and web domain registrars.

Bellingcat was also able to establish that some far-right web stores appeared to be purchasing garments from wholesale manufacturers, whose charters celebrate diversity and equality, before embossing their own hateful messaging onto the clothing and selling it at a profit.

As Facebook, Twitter remove far-right users, “alt-tech” houses exiled netizens

When sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube ban users for violating their terms of service, those individuals often don’t leave social media altogether. Instead, many of these digital deportees flock to alternative sites to meet their online social demands.

Known broadly as “alt-tech,” sites like Gab, Parler and Rumble are best known as harbors for far-right netizens, providing more lax content moderation than their mainstream counterparts. To supporters of these sites, the platforms are seen as bastions of free speech in an online environment dominated by a handful of suppressive corporations. To critics, they willingly house bigotry, antisemitism and white supremacy — with Gab’s founder even openly expressing such views online.

Group Alleges It Hacked Far-Right Web Host Epik

The hactivist collective Anonymous says that it has gained access to a massive trove of data from Epik, the web host and domain registrar for a variety of right-wing sites. Epik’s client list has reportedly ranged from more mainstream conservative groups like the Texas Republican Party to Gab and other far-right sites on the fringes of the internet.

In a press release, Anonymous says that it has captured “a decade’s worth of data” from Epik. They say the data includes domain registrations, domain transfers, passwords, account credentials for all of Epik’s customers, logins, more than a half-million private keys, payment history, a “dump of an employee’s mailbox, just because we could,” and more. Of the private keys, they wrote, “What are they for? Who…

Texas Abortion Snitching Site Now Shares Web Host With Far-Right Extremists

A Texas anti-abortion group moved its online portal for snitching on abortions under the state’s extreme new law to a web hosting service known for working with far-right extremists and conspiracy theorists.

And it may go too far for even that provider.

Texas Right to Life, the evangelical Christian group behind the site, set up the online reporting operation to enforce the new “vigilante” law, which went into effect last week after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to block it. The law, signed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott earlier this year, bans all abortions after six weeks — even in cases of rape or incest — before many people even know they’re pregnant.

But the reporting site was bounced last week by hosting provider GoDaddy for violating privacy policies barring users…
