A video on TikTok with 3.7 million views claims to show a video of the singer Adele holding the Palestinian flag while singing the song ‘When We Were Young’. Similar posts have been shared on Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

In a longer video clip of the same part of the gig, where she walks amongst the audience and is handed items by some of them, it’s clear that she’s actually holding the flag of Mexico. Although it includes patches of green, white and red, like the Palestinian flag, the coat of arms of the Mexican flag can clearly be seen 48 seconds in when she hands it to someone.

A video that has been shared 13,000 times on X (formerly Twitter) shows a man apparently telling his daughter to laugh when bombs are dropped with the caption: “A Palestinian father tells his daughter to laugh every time she hears an Israeli airstrike so that she doesn’t get scared.”

The same video has also been shared on Facebook with similar captions.

But the video actually shows a Syrian family, not a Palestinian one, in Syria. It was first shared online over three years ago, during the country’s ongoing war. 

It was recorded by Syrian refugee Abdullah Mohammad, and shows him and his daughter Salwa while they were living with a friend in the town of Sarmada in Syria, having fled their home in Saraqib city.

A number of videos shared on social media claim that animals such as zebras, lions and an elephant have been released onto the streets of Paris during the recent riots. 

Full Fact has seen videos on Facebook that claim the animals were released from Paris Zoo and others that mention Paris but not the zoo itself. 

The videos have also been extremely widely shared on TikTok and Twitter, gaining millions of views. 

While there are some differences between the videos shared on social media, most of them consist of a number of poor-quality clips apparently recorded using a mobile phone.

A video allegedly showing a huge explosion in Paris has been shared on social media in the wake of a major incident in the French capital on 21 June.  

Versions of the video, which have been published on both Twitter and Facebook, show a huge fireball rising into the sky above a wide, busy road. 

The captions of the posts claim that this is “live footage” of an explosion in Paris. According to Le Monde, 50 people were injured after an explosion which was followed by a major fire that caused a building to collapse. The local deputy mayor, Edouard Civel, has said the incident was a gas explosion, though officials have said there is not currently enough evidence to determine the cause of the incident.
