Garda probe rally crash as Donegal Motor Club plea for footage not to be shared

A request has been made not to share footage on social media of a crash that took place on Saturday at a Harvest Rally event in Donegal, which left two people with serious injuries.

An Garda Siochana say investigations are ongoing after two spectators were hospitalised after being struck by a competing car whilst watching the Harvest Rally. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene in Falcarragh, on Saturday at approximately 12:30pm.

“The individuals, both men aged in their 60s and 40s, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be serious,” An Garda Siochana told DonegalLive. “No other injuries have been reported. Investigations are ongoing.”

CCTV footage of hospital explosion is from Syria in 2016, not Gaza

A video compilation being shared online claims to show Israel bombing a hospital in Gaza. But the video actually shows events in Syria. 

The video compilation [WARNING: graphic images], which has been shared on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, shows CCTV footage of an explosion in what appears to be different areas of a hospital. 

The video has been shared with the claim it shows Israel attacking a hospital in Gaza during the recent conflict. Multiple posts have the caption: “Israel was CAUGHT on camera BOMBING the Al-Sadaqa HOSPITAL.”

The Al Sadaqa Hospital, which is also known as the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, is located in Gaza City and has reportedly closed due to a lack of fuel. It was also reported that medical officials said this…

Video game footage used to falsely claim clip of missile hitting helicopter is in Gaza

Multiple social media posts feature a video claiming to show a man using a shoulder-launched ground-to-air missile to shoot down an Israeli helicopter during the recent conflict in Israel and the Gaza Strip. 

The clip, which has been shared hundreds of times across Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) is not of a real event. It has been taken from a military simulation game called Arma 3. 

A higher-quality version of the sequence showing the helicopter being downed was uploaded to YouTube in February 2023, months before the recent hostilities began. 

The description attached to the YouTube video states: “It’s Just a Military Simulation. Not Real life.”
