Football club hosting glamorous fixture with a difference

The Shrewsbury Town events team will be kicking out the football kit in favour of black tie for a Gala Ball at The Croud Meadow on Friday, July 5.

Money raised from the event will benefit local children and their families who need the services of Hope House children’s hospice, near Oswestry.

Held in the club’s Sovereign Suite, and featuring four-piece band Let’s Dance, organisers are rolling out the red carpet and focusing on a fabulous evening which will appeal to anyone, whether they prefer blue and amber strip or ball gown and tiara.

The team at Shrewsbury Town regularly put on special events for other businesses. However, this is the first time in some years that they’ve hosted their own gala ball.

The ball was the idea of hospitality manager Max Senatore.

Mini football tournament dedicated to the 101st anniversary of
the birth of National Leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev is
being held between the main departments and departments of the
Defense Ministry under the plan approved by the First Deputy
Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan
Army, Azernews reports, citing the Ministry of
Defense.

Servicemen compete in A and B groups of 10 teams. Serviceman of
the Azerbaijan Army, Nail Naghiyev and a referee of the Association
of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) manage the games, held
in conditions of intense competition and friendship.

According to the regulations, the 1st and 2nd place teams in
each group will advance to the semi-finals after the group stage.

Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker has removed a social media post that called for Israel to be banned from international football.

The former England star, now one of the highest profile presenters on the BBC, retweeted a post by The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) on X, formerly Twitter.

In the post, PACBI called for “international public and official pressure on international sporting bodies” – including football’s governing body FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) – to suspend Israel’s membership and ban it from international tournaments and games.

Video of crowds at military football game chanting anti-Biden slogan has altered audio

A video shared on Facebook claims to show the crowd at an annual college football match between different US military academies chanting “fuck Joe Biden”.

The Facebook post with the video, which has also been shared multiple times on X (formerly Twitter) states that the “entire stadium” was chanting the explicit slogan against the current US President.

However, the audio on the footage of the Army-Navy match on 9 December has been digitally altered. Spectators in this stadium were not filmed chanting “fuck Joe Biden”.

The original clip which was posted on X on 9 December 2023 by a reporter for the New England Sports Network shows the crowd jumping and singing along to “Tsunami”, an electronic dance music track by Dvbbs and Borgeous.
