Saint Francis – Manchester hosting 4th Annual Giving Day

RICHMOND, Va. — Saint Francis – Manchester is getting ready to host its 4th Annual Giving Day! It’s happening October 4.

Executive Director Bruce Slough joined us in studio to share more about the assisted living facility and the online giving day.

For 52 years, their mission has been to serve the elderly of central Virginia who have limited financial means, and to make sure they provide dignity, loving care and safety. There are more than 100 residents and over 50 dedicated staff.

Saint Francis – Manchester strives to be a special place for families who are looking for an affordable way to help their elderly loved ones who need help with things like meals, medications, housekeeping and a safe place to live.

A photo circulating on social media appears to show Pope Francis addressing a dense crowd of people in Lisbon, Portugal. However, the photo has been generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. 

The image, which has been widely shared on Facebook and Twitter (now known as X), shows Pope Francis with his back to the camera, standing in front of a large crowd of people stretching into the distance.

Many of the posts have similar captions saying: “Look at that crowd! Two million young people attending Mass with Pope Francis in Lisbon! [sic]”

Another post says: “Not a music concert or sports events. What God can gather and unite, no man can. 2 million young people in Lisbon, with the Pope, for the sake of the gospel.”

Pittsfield quartet dedicated to Pope Francis girls hockey program in its sophomore season | Local Sports

WESTFIELD — Year one was for laying the ice. Year two is for carving it up.

With the foundation of an inaugural Pope Francis girls hockey season set in stone, a handful of local student-athletes are helping the Cardinals build a better tomorrow in the program’s sophomore season. 

“I’ve been playing hockey for more years than I can count,” said Pittsfield junior Kellie Harrington. “It’s such a team environment. Everybody has each other’s back and we play for each other no matter what.”
