Artist Ashley Longshore Welcomes FGI to SoHo Gallery for Women’s History Month Party

NEW YORK — Ashley Longshore’s SoHo gallery is covered with the artist’s colorful paintings and it was also filled with plenty of vibrant guests at the Fashion Group International celebration of Women’s History Month on Thursday night.

Longshore shared the hosting duties with Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, Fern Mallis, Teri Agins and Veronica Webb. FGI’s president and chief executive officer Maryanne Grisz welcomed 100 people during the course of the night including Marylou Luther, Patricia Underwood, Amy Rosi, designer Andrew Yu, Sharon Graubard, Chris Lavish and jewelry designer Julie Lamb.

I thrive on positive energy, and, from my observations, most people prefer a smile to a frown. I admit it can be difficult to slay the depression dragons, but search until you find your outlet. Someone to talk to, something to do — find what makes you smile.

Some people clean their way to happy.

Nope. Not me. I’m more of a clutter warrior. I tell myself the battle is to remove not collect.

Ah, but I digress. My point is that there are many creative ways to express anger, fear or depression, as well positive emotions, like joy, love or excitement. Art and humanity go hand in hand. We’ve been creating stories since the first caveman — or woman — picked up a rock and started scraping on the cave walls.

Hope Arts Gallery hosting Retrospective 14 in March

The Hope Arts Gallery hosts Retrospective 14, a show dedicated to celebrating the talent of students and teachers of the Hope Art Machine.

From March 1 until March 26, the public will have a chance to view these artists’ works which will be displayed in the newly renovated Back Room Gallery.

“To allow the public to become more familiar with our members, we have created unique areas in the gallery for each artist to show their work,” said the Arts Gallery in a press release. “An artist’s biography included with each display will also give more insight into the artist and what motivates them.”
