Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker has removed a social media post that called for Israel to be banned from international football.

The former England star, now one of the highest profile presenters on the BBC, retweeted a post by The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) on X, formerly Twitter.

In the post, PACBI called for “international public and official pressure on international sporting bodies” – including football’s governing body FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) – to suspend Israel’s membership and ban it from international tournaments and games.

The group, affiliated with the wider Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), called for the boycott “until Israel ends its grave violations…

Ian Wright left Gary Lineker "vexed" as he reveals tattoo dedicated to MOTD host – The Mirror


Ian Wright has revealed how he left Gary Lineker “vexed” when he rated Alan Shearer ahead of him.

The trio, who were all prolific during their times in England’s top flight, have become regular colleagues on Match of the Day. Wright though will leave his role on the BBC programme after more than two decades when the current season draws to a close.

Arsenal’s legendary figure though rubbed Lineker up the wrong way when he voted on a poll to determine who was better of the two strikers. Wright opted for Shearer, who he claims “lived rent-free in my head” due to his experiences against the Newcastle great.

Gary R. Wieneke Track Officially Dedicated

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.- The home of the Fighting Illini track and field team was officially dedicated as the Gary R. Wieneke Track this morning at Demirjian Park. Joining Coach Wieneke and his wife, Peggy in the celebration were a large group of extended family, former athletes, current student athletes and DIA staff. The dedication featured comments from University Chancellor Robert Jones, Director of Athletics Josh Whitman and Coach Mike Turk joined by current Illini Olivia Howell and Jonathan Wells to honor the legendary coach.
