Today, I’m talking to Anthony Casalena, the founder and CEO of Squarespace, the ubiquitous web hosting and design company. If you’re a podcast listener, you’ve heard a Squarespace ad.

I was excited to talk to Anthony because it really feels like we’re going through a reset moment on the internet, and I wanted to hear how he’s thinking about the web and what websites are even for in 2023.

Google Meet is not introducing a button to turn on all cameras at once

A number of posts on social media have shared a screenshot appearing to show a new button on Google Meet that turns on all participants’ cameras instantly.

The screenshot shows the usual interface of a Google Meet call, but with the addition of a new button at the bottom bar alongside the ‘mute’ and ‘hang up’ buttons. The button is an eye-shaped icon and a box above it says “this button instantly turns on the cameras for all 86 participants”.

Serverless Computing Platform Market is expected to represent Significant CAGR of +23% by 2030 Major Players – Cloudflare Workers, Google, Alibaba

PRESS RELEASE

Published June 23, 2023

Serverless computing platforms allow developers to focus on the code for their applications instead of managing server resources and service hosting, allowing applications to scale as needed without the need for dedicated servers. It also allows developers to take advantage of cost savings as the cloud platform provider pays for resources only when the code runs, and not when it’s idle.

This might sound like strange advice, but the fact is that a lot of companies that offer domains aren’t as committed as you’d expect. The latest proof comes from one the biggest and best-known companies in the world.

Millions and millions of domains are about to shift from one semi-committed domain registrar to another company that isn’t really a great fit.

Google Domains was launched in 2015, but only emerged out of beta last year. Sixteen months later comes the news that Google Domains is closing down so the company can “sharpen our focus”. Squarespace, which is better known as a website-building platform than a domain registrar, will…
