The UN General Assembly created this day in 2008 as a way to commemorate the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Iraq, where 22 humanitarian workers’ lives were lost. WHD serves to honour aid workers around the world, and promote paying it forward as individuals.

The organisation shared on their platform, “From looting and obstruction to attacks and kidnapping, threats to humanitarian workers’ safety and movement compromise a lifeline to millions of people in need. This results in ordinary people losing access to essentials such as food, water and medical care.”

Infinite Helping Hands, 5201 Waterford Drive in Sheffield Village, has recognized the need for dementia care throughout Lorain County.

On July 28, the organization will begin its mission with a dementia help resource fair.

The fair is working in conjunction with a variety of organizations throughout Northeast Ohio, according to Infinite Helping Hands Director of Business Development Mary Cook.

“Infinite Helping Hands provides home health aide services in the community,” Cook said. “We partnered with a lot of other vendors, and we want to have really meaningful conversations about aging in Lorain County.
