A video has been shared on social media with claims it shows the aftermath of a “bombing” by Hezbollah. But it actually shows a warehouse fire in Brazil. 

The video includes two clips, both showing flames and columns of smoke. One has been filmed in daylight, while the other is at night with two vehicles visible in the foreground. 

One post on X (formerly Twitter) has almost 2,000 shares and says: “Rats got roasted by Hezbollah.” The video has also been shared on YouTube with the caption: “Hezbollah is now massively bombing the city of Safed in northern Israel.”

But this video has been miscaptioned—it does not show Safed, or anything relating to the recent escalation in fighting between Hezbollah and Israel.

A video being shared on social media with claims it shows Hezbollah bombing Israel actually shows an explosion at a petrol station in Yemen.

One post shared on X, formerly Twitter, has more than 532,000 views and is captioned: “While you were sleeping last night, Hezbollah did this to Israel”. The video has also been shared on Facebook with the caption “Yesterday it was Beirut, Today ‘Haifa’!”

Cross-border fighting between Israel and the armed group Hezbollah has intensified in the past week with Hezbollah firing into Israel and Israel launching airstrikes at Lebanon.

But the video being shared is unrelated to this conflict. 

The same video can be found in news reports from August about a petrol station explosion in Aden, Yemen.

A video shared on social media with claims it shows Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence system failing to intercept a Hezbollah drone actually shows a Ukrainian drone targeting an oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, earlier this year. 

One post on X, formerly Twitter, is captioned: “Video shows Israel’s Iron Dome failing to intercept Hezbollah’s drone as it makes its way to pound a regime’s power plant in northern occupied territories.” 

The video has also been shared on Facebook, sometimes with the caption “a Hezbollah drone reaches oil refineries in northern occupied Palestine”.

But the video shared with these claims is not recent, and does not show a Hezbollah drone attack. The video actually shows a Ukrainian drone striking a Russian oil refinery in Tuapse,…
