Jo Koy Golden Globes Hosting Defended by Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg – The Hollywood Reporter

Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin are both defending Jo Koy after his Golden Globes hosting gig earned him a wave of criticism from viewers, industry members and TV critics.

While hosting The View on Tuesday, Goldberg expressed that in Hollywood, “hosting gigs are just brutal.” “If you’ve not been in these rooms before, and you’re sort of thrust out there, it’s hit or miss,” Goldberg said. “I love Jo Koy. He makes me just crazy because he’s funny. I don’t know whether it was the room. I don’t know whether the jokes. I didn’t get to see it. But I do know that he is as good as it gets when it comes to standup.”

The actress, host and comedian pointed to her own challenges hosting events as an example of the difficulty nailing these…

Golden Globes Host Jo Koy Is Sad About Panned Monologue, Swift’s Reaction – The Hollywood Reporter

Jo Koy has heard the critical responses to his Golden Globes monologue.

“I had fun. It was a moment I’ll always remember,” he said of his time hosting the 2024 awards show on GMA3 the morning after. He then paused. “It’s a tough room. It was a hard job. I’m not gonna lie. Getting that gig and then having the amount of time that we had to prepare, that was a crash course.”

When Koy took the stage Sunday night to open the show, he quickly grew defensive in his monologue after he felt some of his jokes falling flat in the Beverly Hilton’s celebrity-filled room.

“I got the gig 10 days ago!” he told the audience. “You want a perfect monologue?”

“Some I wrote, some other people wrote,” said Koy, who was announced as host…

Fantasia Barrino Accuses Airbnb Host of Racial Profiling During Trip – The Hollywood Reporter

The Color Purple star Fantasia Barrino is saying she and her family were racially profiled by Airbnb. The actress shared that they were staying at a house booked on the website to celebrate her son’s birthday. She wrote on Twitter, “My stomach is so uneasy this morning. I don’t say much when people do me wrong, but I can’t stay quiet on how my family and I were just treated from a host with @Airbnb @airbnbhelp trying to kick my kids and I out at 12:00 midnight. The host accused us of having a party with loud noises outdoors because they saw balloons being dropped off and a game truck with no generator in the early part of the day.” She added, “It’s evident to me this was racial profiling and the treatment we received was due to the color of our…

Mayim Bialik Out at Jeopardy – The Hollywood Reporter

Mayim Bialik is no longer going to be involved with Jeopardy.

The Big Bang Theory grad posted on her verified social media account Friday that Jeopardy producers Sony Pictures Television informed her that she will “no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy.”

Bialik — and co-host Ken Jennings — were both nominated for Daytime Emmys for their roles alternating at the lectern left vacant by the passing of the beloved Alex Trebek. Sony tapped Bialik and Jennings to split hosting duties of the long-running syndicated game show last year, capping a months-long period in which the series underwent a messy transition that saw now-former showrunner Mike Richards tap himself for the host role after a series of guest judges. He was let go a…

“I Miss Everything” – The Hollywood Reporter

David Letterman and Stephen Colbert shared how they both faced nerves while hosting The Late Show, the importance of music to the late-night program and what Letterman most misses about hosting when he returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater as a guest on Colbert’s program Monday night.

The appearance marked Letterman’s first on The Late Show since he retired in 2015 after his 22-year hosting run. Walking out to a loud ovation, Letterman took his bows while joking with Colbert. “Wow, OK. Thank you,” he said. “Oh my God, Stephen, control your people.”

“I will say this is the most enthusiastic audience I’ve been near since the night I announced I was quitting,” he added, to Colbert’s laughs.

At the top of his sitdown, the My Next…
