What just happened? If you’re an IT admin relying on Windows Server Update Services to manage updates across your network, it’s time to consider alternatives. Microsoft has officially announced that, while WSUS will continue to operate for now, the company is no longer investing in new capabilities or accepting feature requests for the service.

For those not intimately familiar with the inner workings of Windows enterprise administration, Windows Server Update Services has been a staple tool since its introduction in 2005 as “Software Update Services.” It allows IT teams to centrally manage and deploy updates across their Windows device fleets from a dedicated server, rather than having each machine fetch patches individually from Microsoft’s servers.

Sunken ice isn’t a reliable way to spot if your drink’s been spiked

Social media posts warning people to watch out for ice sinking in their drink as a sign it may have been spiked have been shared tens of thousands of times

A number of posts seen by Full Fact use similar wording, which says: “With it being summer and more people are out drinking please remember when drinking if the ice in your drink isn’t floating, there’s something in your drink, as in drugs so make sure to check your drinks and your friends drinks [sic].

“Ice sinky, no drinky.”

This is missing important context, because looking out for sinking ice isn’t a reliable way to spot if a drink has been spiked.

Spiking a drink involves adding either alcohol or drugs to it without the drinker’s knowledge or consent.

ICE awards $341.6M in cloud hosting contracts to Four Point Technology

Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded Four Points Technology three contracts potentially worth $341.6 million for cloud hosting earlier this month, according to Federal Procurement Data System filings.

ICE has already placed three task orders worth $11.1 million for Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure cloud offerings across the three, five-year blanket purchase agreements.

Four Points won the awards Aug. 5, after ICE amended the solicitation in response to protests from Oracle and Mythics with the Government Accountability Office over the cloud service provider limitations, as reported by Washington Technology.
