Crash pictures don’t show wreckage of Iranian president’s helicopter crash

Pictures claiming to show the aftermath of the helicopter crash that killed the president of Iran has been widely shared online

Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash in a mountainous region of north-west Iran, alongside foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on Sunday 19 May.

The pictures being shared online show what appears to be the wreckage of an aircraft across a hillside. A number of people can be seen gathered around the debris, including a man looking at the camera wearing a face mask and a red and white jacket.

They also show other people wearing the same distinctive uniform, and what appears to be part of a plane marked with the number 1136 and the Iranian flag. 

But these pictures aren’t from Sunday’s crash in north-west…

Tehran’s sole UNESCO site hosts photo exhibit dedicated to Iranian capital

TEHRAN—A collection of old and recent photos of the Iranian capital has been put on show at the UNESCO-designated Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran.

The three-day exhibition opened on Sunday at Shams-ol-Emareh (“Edifice of the Sun”), a 19th-century architectural masterpiece located within Tehran’s sole World Heritage site.

Organized to mark Tehran Week which, comes to an end on October 12, the event features a selection of 40 works taken by 20 photographers, CHTN reported.

Golestan Palace was once the official residence of the Qajar monarchs who ruled the country between 1789 and 1925. Iranian hackers breach Israeli web hosting company, threaten to release sensitive data

A hacker group affiliated with Iran announced on Friday that it had breached the servers of an Israeli web hosting company, and threatened to leak data pertaining to thousands of users.

The group, calling itself “BlackShadow,” shuttered servers belonging to Cyberserve, which provides servers and data storage for companies such as Israel’s Kan public broadcaster, the Israel Lottery, Birthright, the Dan and Kavim public transportation companies, the Children’s Museum in Holon, LGBTQ dating app “Atraf,” tour booking company Pegasus, the Israeli Children’s Museum, and dozens more.

Iranian hackers take down servers of Israeli internet hosting company Cyberserve

Hackers, apparently linked to Iran, said Friday they had broken into the servers of Israeli internet hosting company Cyberserve, bringing down a number of widely-used websites.

The Black Shadow group, which Hebrew-language media reports said was Iranian, warned the Israeli company that it was in possession of data that could be leaked. The group has not confirmed that it is Tehran-backed.

“Hello Again! We have news for you,” the hackers wrote in a message circulated on social media on Friday evening. “You probably could not connect to many websites today. ‘Cyberserve’ company and their customers [were] hit by us. You may ask what about Data? As always, we have lots of it. If you don’t want your Data leaked by us, contact us soon.”
