John Mulaney is opening up about the reasons he said no to taking over hosting duties on The Daily Show.
The 40-year-old comedian was a guest on the Basic! podcast, where he shared how he was approached for the gig before Trevor Noah was hired for the spot, and why he passed on it.

John recalled that it was right around the SNL 40th Anniversary when everything occurred.
“I had a sitcom on Fox. They’d aired all 13 [episodes], but it was canceled,” he shared. “It didn’t do good numbers, but at least critics reviled it. So, it was a fun time.”
