Jimmy Kimmel Returning for 4th Stint as Oscars Host – MSN

Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 96th Academy Awards, marking his fourth turn leading the ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday.

Kimmel also hosted the ceremony earlier this year, and he hosted in 2017 and 2018.

He will join Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon as four-time Oscar hosts, and he’ll be one behind Johnny Carson, who hosted five of the events.

Billy Crystal hosted the ceremony nine times, but Bob Hope is the all-time leader with 19 shows as host, although the shared hosting duties in five of those outings.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a joint statement they are “thrilled” to have Kimmel returning as host and Molly McNearney returning to serve as an executive producer for the show.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” talk-show host said during the “Politickin’” podcast, hosted by Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and sports agent Doug Hendrickson, that pulling double duty with “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and the Academy Awards is “distracting” for his staff. In turn, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” actually “suffers a little bit,” according to Kimmel.

“I just decided I didn’t want to deal with that this year,” Kimmel said of turning down hosting the 2025 Academy Awards. “It was just too much last year. Sir Mick Jagger and Jimmy Fallon are among the stars who have been soaking in the last of the 2024 Olympic action.

The Rolling Stones frontman posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday of him posing beside talk show host Fallon and French swimmer Leon Marchand, who has picked up four gold medals in Paris.

Alongside the post, Sir Mick wrote: “What a great Olympic Games! At the track and field with @leon.marchand31 and @jimmyfallon.”

Fallon shared the same photo, captioning it: “Paint it GOLD. @MickJagger #ParisOlympics #JimmyInParis.”
