Interim Enterprise CIO John Ellis to retire from Emory

After more than 20 years of service to Emory, John Ellis plans to retire at the end of the calendar year. Ellis has served as interim enterprise chief information officer (CIO) and senior vice provost for information technology since March 2023. Prior to these roles, Ellis was deputy CIO and held multiple leadership positions at Emory.

Ellis’s retirement was announced Aug. 15 in a joint message from Christopher L. Augostini, executive vice president for business and administration, enterprise chief financial officer, and vice chair of the Emory Healthcare Board of Directors; Ravi V. Jimmy Kimmel, John Mulaney say no to host Oscars 2025

Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the Oscars four times, including the 2024 ceremony, has declined to return as host for the 2025 Academy Awards.

Additionally, John Mulaney, who hosted the 14th Governors Awards and was a standout presenter at the 2024 Oscars, has also turned down the opportunity to host the 2025 ceremony, as per People magazine.

The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, airing live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.

Kimmel, who previously hosted the Oscars in 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2024, has a proven track record of success, with the 2024 ceremony reaching a four-year high in ratings with 19.5 million viewers.

South Dakota bridge to be dedicated to PFC John Tuin

The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will be hosting a State Bridge Dedication Ceremony to honor U.S. Army Private First Class John Tuin.

The ceremony will be Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 184 in Estelline, 222 Main St.

The state Highway 28 bridge over the Big Sioux River, west of Estelline, will be dedicated as the Pfc John Tuin Bridge.

Tuin was reported missing in action on Oct. 6, 1952, while fighting the enemy in Korea. Tuin’s remains are still unaccounted for.

Naming bridges in honor of our combat veterans who died while serving their country is an initiative of Gov. Kristi Noem and the South Dakota departments of military, transportation, and veterans affairs.

Zac Efron and John Cena Commiserate About Hosting ‘SNL’

“Ricky Stanicky” costars John Cena and Zac Efron chatted with Collider about the movie, how they select projects to work on and just how nerve-wracking it is to host “Saturday Night Live.” Efron said of his time hosting the show, “We prepped all week and then they throw it out the window at the very last minute, and you just try brand new s–t. It was wild. I can’t believe any of it worked.”

Cena concurred after he shared his own hosting difficulties when he played frontman for ESPN’s ESPYs. Efron hosted “SNL” in 2009, while Cena hosted in 2016.
