Unevidenced claim Labour leader called for ‘more houses’ for asylum seekers recirculates on Facebook

A post claiming Sir Keir Starmer called for “‘more houses to be built’ for asylum seekers and illegal immigrants”, and described “migrants” as “the future of our economy” has been recirculating on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The post, which was first shared on X more than a year ago reads: “Keir Starmer calls for ‘more houses to be built’ for asylum seekers and illegal immigrants – ‘These migrants have to be the priority for the government. They are the future of our economy’ he said”.

The original post includes a link to an interview Mr Starmer gave to BBC News in November 2022. But as we’ve previously explained, Mr Starmer did not say this during the interview, and we’ve found no evidence that he’s called for “more houses to…

Christian group urges Labour to back calls for ‘nudification’ ban

A Labour think tank has backed calls for a ban on artificial intelligence (AI) tools that allow users to digitally undress women and children.

It came after a poll by the Christian social policy charity CARE found that almost eight in ten Brits are in favour of a ban.

The poll asked participants if: “Websites and apps that use AI to simulate sexually explicit content such as undressing women and children should be banned by the government.”

Seven in ten respondents strongly agreed (69 per cent) and one in ten (10 per cent) somewhat agreed. The number of respondents who strongly agreed rises to almost eight in ten (75 per cent), discounting those who preferred not to answer.

A policy paper by the centre-left Labour Together think tank supports a legal ban on the so called…

Labour MP Criticises UAE For Hosting COP28 Climate Change Summit While Producing Oil

Labour MP Malcolm Paul Agius Galea has criticised the choice of the United Arab Emirates, one of the world’s largest oil producers, as host of this year’s COP28 climate change summit.

“The UAE economy relies on oil, a fossil fuel, which creates toxic gases that escalate climate change,” Agius Galea said in Parliament this week.

He said it was very ironic that Sultan al-Jaber, chief executive of the UAE’s state-oil firm Adnoc, was chosen as president of COP28.

“His role clashes significantly with his role at COP28; it was quite annoying and there was a lot of resistance to it,” he said.

“A few days ago, he slipped up big time when he said he wants to use the money they are generating to contribute to combating climate change. When I hear such things, I shake my head…

Bharti Singh worked throughout her pregnancy and in a recent interview, the actor-host shared that her labour pain started when she was on the stage hosting her show The Khatra Khatra Show. Bharti recalled, “Jab main Khatra Khatra kar rahi thi toh mujhe labour pain start ho gaye the. Main stage pe thi (I was on stage doing Khatra Khatra when my labour pain started).”

Bharti recalled that day in a chat with Pinkvilla and said, “In the first pregnancy, you don’t realise that this is labour pain so I thought I’ll call the doctor after the shot. I thought that maybe it’s because I’m standing a lot while hosting the game show. So I called the doctor and said that there is a pain but it is not constant, it’s coming and going and the doctor said this is labour pain. When it…
