Limerick racing to welcome news of World Rally Championship hosting bid success

NEWS that Limerick will soon be playing host to the World Rally Championship, the world’s largest international rallying series, received widespread welcome across this week.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (January 9) at a special event held by Motorsport Ireland had local racing fans revving their motors for the giant of world motoring to touch down in the Treaty.

Limerick Motor Club had presented a bid to Motorsport Ireland to host the World Rally Championship (WRC) at Limerick Racecourse in Patrickswell.

US tech company WP Engine is hiring at its Limerick office as it accelerates its growth in Europe.

The WordPress company, which provides managed hosting as well as e-commerce and enterprise offerings, is hiring for 20 new roles in Ireland, which includes software engineering, pricing analysts, technical support and more.

The company first came to Europe with a London office in 2014, followed by a Limerick office in 2016. At the time, it announced 100 new roles for the region.

Homeowner offers bunk beds to Limerick students for €500 a month

AS STUDENTS struggle to find accommodation, a homeowner in Limerick is renting bunk beds for up to €500 each a month, not including utilities.

The homeowner is renting six bunk beds in two separate rooms, one advertised as a room to be shared between four people and the other as a two-persons shared room.

The rooms are being let in the North Circular Road area.

Additionally, the homeowner is also looking for students to rent out two other rooms in the house, each priced over €1,000.

In total, nine students would occupy the house and the full occupancy of all beds would bring in over €5,000 a month.

No (spray) tan lines for brazen Limerick motorists who parked on double yellow while having beauty procedure

IT HAS been a terrible summer for sun worshippers but gardai weren’t going to let the bad weather excuse two drivers illegally parking to get a spray tan.

The @GardaTraffic twitter handle shared a photo of two cars on double yellow lines on Wickham Street in Limerick city.

“Gardaí in Roxboro came upon these two vehicles blocking pedestrians and cyclists. And all for a spray tan.

“An expensive one at that. Both vehicles were seized and court will follow,” read the tweet from an official garda account.

At least they will be looking suitably sun-kissed for the judge.
