THE Limerick Celtics basketball club has been recognised as a “gold standard” in disability inclusion.

Liberty Insurance AccessAbility Symposium brought together stakeholders, including Sports Ireland, Active Disability Ireland, IWA Sport, Vision Sport Ireland, NCBI, GAA, IRFU, and others to discuss pathways to grow participation rates amongst individuals with disabilities.

The event, organised and hosted by Liberty Insurance, saw lively and thought-provoking discussions throughout the day, with panel discussions focussing on both existing barriers and solutions moving forward. Armed Support Unit deployed as rocks, bottles and a bike thrown at Limerick gardai in ‘volatile situation’

LIMERICK gardai came under attack as uniformed officers seized a vehicle in the city, Limerick Live has learned.

A video of the incident, which took place in Ballinacurra Weston on Sunday evening, has been widely shared on social media.

Limerick Live understands that gardai went to the Clarina Avenue area to seize a vehicle, which allegedly had been stolen.

Gardai and a removal truck came under fire as they carried out their lawful duty. It is believed that rocks and bottles were thrown at gardai and a bicycle flung at a marked patrol car.

The Armed Support Unit had to be called and plumes of pepper spray used to disperse the large crowd that had gathered. The incident occurred in the vicinity of a statue to the Virgin Mary.
