Microsoft and CrowdStrike Outage Explained: Airport Chaos, 911 Lines Down and More

Microsoft suffered a massive, ongoing global IT outage on Friday morning, affecting airports, airlines, banks, hospitals and broadcasters around the world. The outage hit thousands of Windows PCs, which many companies and organizations rely on as part of their critical internet infrastructure. Perhaps most concerning of all, several states across the US reported that their emergency 911 call centers have been hit.

Microsoft said on X that it was aware of an issue affecting people’s ability to access 365 services late on Thursday. In an update issued around 1 a.m. PT (4 a.m. ET), the company said, “Multiple services are continuing to see improvements in availability as our mitigation actions progress.” The company didn’t immediately respond to request for further comment.

Ukiah Library hosting Lines and Spines Book Club July 11 on Zoom – The Ukiah Daily Journal

Ukiah Branch Library will be hosting Lines and Spines Book Club on Zoom on Thursday, July 11 from 6-7 p.m.

Lines and Spines is scheduled for the first Thursday of every month, but will be meeting July 11 because the library is closed on July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. The July 11 book will be “Just As I Am” by Cicely Tyson.

Longer lines behind planes don’t indicate ‘chemtrails’

An image being widely shared on Facebook claims to show how to identify a “chemtrail” as compared to a “contrail” left in the sky by an aeroplane.

The post, one example of which has been shared more than 6,300 times, includes side-by-side images of two planes in the sky with differing lengths of white trails behind them.

Text within the photo identifies the longer trail as a “chemtrail”, adding the “trail extends for miles” and “lasts for hours”. While a “contrail” in the image is described as where the “trail extends for feet lasts for seconds”.

But both of the images show contrails, or condensation trails, left by aircraft.
