EU recommendation on piracy of live events disgruntles rightsholders – EURACTIV.com

The European Commission’s recommendation to fight online piracy of live events focuses on the effective handling of take-down requests, dynamic injunctions, and voluntary cooperation. Still, rightsholders have found its relaxed revision time disappointing.

The Commission is due to present its recommendation on the piracy of live content on 3 May. The non-binding initiative is meant to push member states, national authorities and intermediary services to take effective and proportionate measures to combat the unauthorised retransmission of live events.

However, according to an early draft obtained by EURACTIV, the recommendation is set to fall short of the expectations of rightsholders, like TV channels, who have acquired the rights to transmit a football championship…

The Gift Ryan Seacrest Left for New ‘Live’ Co-Host Mark Consuelos

Last Friday, Ryan Seacrest, 48, marked the end of an era and finally said goodbye to his Live co-host, Kelly Ripa, 52, after hosting the morning show for almost six years. Before he made his official departure, the American Idol host had a special surprise in store for his replacement, Mark Consuelos, 52, who just made his big hosting debut on the brand-new Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Consuelos revealed the heartwarming parting gift the former co-host left to happily welcome him to the Live fam: a pic of Steve McQueen (with a handwritten note).

‘Live’ Fans Slam ‘Painful’ First Episode With Mark Consuelos Hosting Instead Of Ryan Seacrest: ‘The Beginning Of The End’

The reviews for Mark Consuelos’ first episode as co-host of Live are in – and they’re not good! Kelly Ripa, 52, bid a tearful farewell to her work husband Ryan Seacrest, 48, on Friday, April 14th, and welcomed her real-life husband Mark Consuelos, 52, on Monday, April 17th. Mark *officially* replaced Ryan as the show’s co-host on Monday after filling in for him occasionally in the past; however, many fans weren’t keen on the Live with Kelly and Mark first episode, with one viewer calling it “painful,” and another saying it was “horrid,” while another less-than-optimistic viewer predicted it was “the beginning of the end.” Yikes!

The new chapter of Live has begun.

Live With Kelly and Mark, featuring Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos as co-hosts, premiered on Monday. It’s a new beginning for the long-running morning talk show, just days after Ryan Seacrest said goodbye.

The pair walked out to the newly redecorated set — featuring Live with Kelly and Mark signs and coffee mugs — holding hands. She made the new co-hosting situation official, starting the show by saying, “It’s Monday, April 17, 2023. Joining me today — and permanently, until one of us dies — is Mark Consuelos.”
