Calvert Mainstreet Preservation hosting a concert to help fund local small businesses

CALVERT, TX — The Calvert Mainstreet Preservation organization is hosting a concert downtown this weekend, hoping to raise funds to help promote small businesses within the city. Historic downtown Calvert has been blossoming more and more each year.

Texas Highways magazine just named Calvert as one of the next Marfa’s,” said Brenda Van de Walle, vice president of the Calvert Chamber of Commerce. “We were labeled the ‘dark horse’ in the race… The art scene is very important to Calvert, and I believe in developing and revitalizing the main street.”

Local governments forced offline after ransomware targets web host

Several state and local government agencies around the United States have had their web presences taken out following a ransomware attack against a web hosting provider the agencies share.

The provider, Managed.com, was targeted with the REvil malware in an incident that appears to have started Monday. The company has said it took down the entirety of its web hosting services, according to ZDNet, which was first to report the incident. Those services include managed website hosting, email and file-transfer servers and remote access points.

Amphitheater dedicated, hosting first concert Saturday | Local News

Project 2020 was more than 10 years in the making, but the time and effort paid off Wednesday afternoon when the Fountain City Amphitheater at Moore Park in Bryan was officially dedicated.

Project 2020 is a giving circle affiliated with the Bryan Area Foundation, collecting money slowly over the course of around a decade before the funds matured and the amphitheater was constructed.

Its dedication was Wednesday.

Local organization hosting virtual events to raise awareness about suicide prevention

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – In 2018, 888 Wisconsinites took their own life.

It’s the 10th leading cause of death overall in the state but the second for people between the ages 10 to 34.

That’s according to the most recent data from the CDC.

Now there is fear that it will rise even more because of the struggles people have faced due to the pandemic.
