Atlanta woman loses $120k in investment scam

An Atlanta-based woman known as Yvonne recently fell victim to a financial scam, losing over $120,000 to a fraudulent agent feigning affiliation with a top-tier finance firm. Far from a slapdash ruse, the scam involved an intricate web of forged documents, convincing impersonations, and an exploitation of trust that saw Yvonne hand her life savings over to a stranger.

Yvonne’s tale began on YouTube, where she found a broker who appeared to be registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and an advisor with Fidelity. After seeing returns from an initial investment, she decided to go all in, investing a more significant sum in the broker’s promise of profits.

Since the untimely 2020 death of longtime Jeopardy host Alex Trebek after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, things have not quite been the same for the long-running, beloved quiz show. Months of guest hosts like Aaron Rodgers, LeVar Burton, and Katie Couric, all of whom were assumed by fans to essentially be auditioning for the host position, eventually led to producer Mike Richards taking over.

Mike Richards almost immediately stepped down among allegations of improper behavior, controversial podcast remarks, and general outrage from the fans.

Parler Social Network Service Loses Web Hosting | Voice of America

Parler, a social network service popular with conservatives, went offline Monday after its web hosting service Amazon suspended it for allowing posts that encourage violence.
 
Before the site went down, Parler CEO John Matze accused Amazon and other tech giants of a “war on free speech.”
 
Google banned Parler’s smartphone app from its app store on Friday, also citing Parler’s allowance of posts that seek to incite violence in the United States.
 
Apple instituted its own Parler ban on Saturday.
 
The two-year-old Parler saw an increase in users in recent months as social media giants Facebook and Twitter stepped up enforcement of posts that violated their policies.
