Ukrainian family living in remote Irish village ‘desperate’ to find lost turtle

A Ukrainian couple living in a remote Irish village are seeking help to find their lost turtle. 

According to a post shared to the Bonmahon Tidy Towns Facebook page, the family recently moved to Bonmahon, Co Waterford after fleeing the war in Ukraine and lost their pet almost a week ago on August 16. 

The turtle, which is believed to have escaped through a window, has reportedly lived with the couple for 30 years. 

They are reportedly “desperate” to get him back.

For several months, Diego openly shared his fight against sarcoma on his social networks, undergoing surgeries and treatments to combat the disease.

Despite the unbearable pain, Guaque remained firm and through faith and family union, announced that he had finally overcome cancer.

Posts about a lost woman with dementia are a hoax

Posts on Facebook are appealing for people to identify a woman they claim has dementia and is lost. But these appeals are a hoax, and follow the same pattern as other hoaxes we have checked before.

The posts claim that the woman and her dog have arrived at a shelter but that she “doesn’t know where she is”.

The posts have been shared in community Facebook groups across the world, and begin with: “URGENT ALERT! FLOOD YOUR FEEDS! does anyone recognise this lady?” 

They end with: “Please help us find her home”.

The posts all use identical wording, with different locations, and have the same photo of an elderly woman. The appeals have appeared on community groups across the country, including Maidenhead in Berkshire, Rugeley in Staffordshire and Crewe in…
