Southington Food Insecurity Group Hosting Major Fundraiser

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local organization dedicated to combating food insecurity is hosting one of its biggest fundraisers this weekend.

The annual Bread for Life Wine Tasting 2024 event will take place Sunday, Sept. 22, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Long View Ciderhouse, 36 Bottom Road, Southington.

Bread for Life, which is located at 31 Vermont Ave., Southington, is dedicated to providing “food, fellowship, and a sense of dignity to those in need,” according to its website.

“Our vision is accomplished by providing meals served daily in our kitchen, delivered within our senior community and also to our home-bound citizens, and to children in the summer,” reads the organization’s website.

Simsbury-Based Pediatric Cancer Charity To Host Major Event In Avon

SIMSBURY/AVON, CT — A Simsbury-based charity dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer is having a special event in Avon next week.

Vie for the Kids, an all-volunteer charity working to improve pediatric cancer treatment options and outcomes, is hosting the second annual Gold Ribbon Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Golf Club of Avon, 160 Country Club Road, Avon.

More than 100 guests attended last year’s event, and raised $10,000, which went directly to where it is needed the most–the pediatric oncology clinic at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford.

Since 2007, Vie for the Kids has organized and hosted a variety of fundraising events across the
Farmington Valley and it has raised over $1 million.

The Met to host first major museum exhibition dedicated to architect Paul Rudolph

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host the first-ever major museum exhibition dedicated to the works of influential architect Paul Rudolph. Running from September 30 through March 16, 2025, “Materialized Space: The Architecture of Paul Rudolph” examines the career and legacy of the Modernist architect and how his contributions to architecture continue to inspire innovative designs in cities across the globe. The exhibition will feature over 80 works, ranging from small objects he collected throughout his life to drawings, models, furniture, material samples, and photographs.

Famed TV Host Shares Major Health Update After Breaking His Neck In Near-Fatal Accident

Famed TV host Nev Schulman is making a remarkable recovery after breaking his neck in a near-fatal biking accident. The Catfish host shared a major health update.

Schulman is up on his feet and walking around. He shared a video of himself strolling through a street with a neck cast.

“It’s been two weeks since I broke my neck and had emergency spine surgery. And I thought I’d get on here [and] just give you all a quick little update” he said.

“As you can see, I’m up and about. Finishing a little neighborhood stroll,” he said, “which was recommended to me by my physical therapist to keep my body moving.”
